Create an Event
Once you have downloaded the Sporfie app and created your account, setting up your device to start saving moments is quick and easy.
When you open the app, there are multiple options to get started. If you are already onsite at a sporting event, you may immediately see events happening now nearby. Or, you will see a message on the main screen indicating that there are no events in your area.
To create a new event, press + in the right-hand corner, or tap “create new event” under the Now! screen. You will be prompted to provide a title and description and choose the type of sport. Your location will be automatically detected and added.
Tip: Provide a title that is clearly recognizable to anyone in attendance, as others in your same location will be able to view the event and join. Using a personal title like “Joey’s Soccer Game” will make the likelihood of multiple overlapping events more likely, and Sporfie works best in groups.
The event will appear in the Nearby! view and will be discoverable by those in your immediate area.
At least one camera must be added to begin saving moments.
Add a Camera
Before adding a camera, first decide which smartphone will be used as the primary shared camera. This device should not be moved during the game to avoid disrupting others’ ability to capture moments. Anyone else may add or remove their own devices throughout, but this camera will act as a constant.
To add the first active camera, tap on the event and click “Add Camera.” Once you have positioned the device somewhere unobtrusive, but still at an effective angle, leave the phone, sit back and enjoy the game.
Sharing Your Event with Others
To invite viewers who are not at the game, select the add person icon, and you can share the event via message, Facebook, email, etc. The event invitation can be opened on mobile or desktop, so those family members or friends can view everyone’s saved moments in real-time without actually being at the game.
Using a smartphone with Sporfie installed, everyone will be able to save moments without ever touching the shared camera.
To start capturing, simply open the app, join the event you just created and hit the Sporfie button to save the moments you want after they have happened.
You can also save with Clipr, allowing you to stow your mobile device completely and save clips via a Sporfie-paired remote.
Remember: Don’t tap the button until after the moment happens that you wish to save. Sporfie saves the past fifteen seconds, so clicking to save prematurely will result in a clip of the 15 seconds preceding the moment.
Tip: Create a rotating schedule amongst the team’s parents, so everyone has an equal opportunity to capture their moments without any setup. Each week, one parent can dedicate their phone to be used by the entire community. When it’s your phone’s turn, you can save your own moments using another Sporfie-equipped device, or explore the moments saved by everyone following the game’s completion and choose the ones you want to keep.
So other than the app, what else do I need?
Whether your child is playing an indoor sport or an outdoor one, Sporfie is equipped to
When filming in almost any setting, one easy way to set up the device is by using a simple tripod with a smartphone adapter.
For sports that have a barrier between you and the field, such as youth baseball or ice hockey, we suggest setting up a mounted device holder.
